Snapshots - 1

On Sunday 7 June at 1pm I will talk about Snapshots - The Vernacular in New Zealand Photography in the Gallery's Art Lounge. Here is one of the images that I will speak about. Three larrikins make fun of the compulsory military training they undertake at the local High School. I do not think that the guy on the right would have thought that he looks like he is wearing a local 'dairy' version of Ned Kelly's helmet. The chicken coop with its 'run' is the sort of subject no one photographed at the time. The year? It has to be close to 1960. Surplus army clothing from WWII was still in a big supply.
